The most famous of her roles is her character of Lorrell Robinson as the film that won an Academy Award Dreamgirls (2005) as well as her character as LaVerne Jinglebox Ganner in the Starz show Power. Her performance in the theater are also well-known, particularly her role as Emmie Thbodeaux from the Broadway production of the musical Caroline or Change (2004) in which she was awarded the Tony Award Best Featured actress in a Musical.
